The first skateboarders rode down hills in Carlsbad, CA with clay wheels to take their surfing to the streets. Not until the 1970’s, the first skatepark was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard building boom was about to begin. There were a lot of skate parks that were built in the next dozen years. Now there are more than 2,600 skate parks in America. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, such as Rob Drydek and Shaun White, who have brought it to the main stream.
