The first skaters rode down hills in Carlsbad, CA with clay wheels so that they would have an activity to do when the surf wan’t good. The World’s first skatepark was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard boom was about to begin. Now there are 2,600 skate parks in America. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, such as Rob Drydek and Shaun White, who have brought it to the main stream.
