The first skaters took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools so that they would have an activity to do when the surf wan’t good. The first skateboard park was made in California. No one knew the skateboard building boom was about to begin. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
