Skateboarding is a great sport. The first skateboarders took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools to mimic the waves of surfing. Many years later, the first skateboard park was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard building boom was about to begin. Thousands skate parks that were built in the next few years. Today, there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
