Skateboarding is a great sport. The first skaters took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools to mimic the waves of surfing. The first skatepark was made in Southern California. No one knew the skateboard park boom was about to begin. There were a lot of skate parks that were built in the next twenty years. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
