The first skateboarders rode down hills in Carlsbad, CA with clay wheels to mimic the waves of surfing. Many years later, the first skateboard park was made in California. Shortly after, the skateboard park boom was about to begin. It was thousands of skateparks that were built in the next twenty years. Now there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
