About Skateboarding
The first skaters took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools to take their surfing to the streets. Not until the 1970’s, the first concrete skateboard park was made in Southern California. Shortly after, the skateboard building boom was about to begin. Thousands skate parks that were built in the next dozen years. Today, there are more than 2,600 skate parks in America. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
